Welcome to Bethesda, MD!
Located just north of Washington, DC, in Maryland's Capital Region, Bethesda is a culturally active city boasting a number of arts venues, galleries and special events. Bethesda's arts and entertainment district offers award-winning theater and independent films, an artist market and galleries displaying pottery, sculpture, photography and mixed-media items. Fine art and crafts are celebrated at the Bethesda Fine Arts Festival in May, which brings together over 100 of the nation's best artists and gives visitors a chance to sample local cuisine. In April, Bethesda attracts novelists, poets, journalists and children's authors for the Bethesda Literary Festival, an event featuring activities and workshops for visitors of all ages. Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons during May, June and July, the city hosts a summer concert series showcasing local and regional musicians playing styles ranging from jazz to rock to blues. For other arts performances, visitors can check out the Round House Theatre and the Imagination Stage.
